Question
Part B-Written justification for chosen claim(s) Total word limit 500 words 10 marks Referencing is required for any resources other than graphs 1-6. i. Based on your analysis of the six graphs (Part A), write a brief justification (argument) to support your choice of chosen claim(s). Convince the reader by explaining why the data supports your choice. i. Based on your broader knowledge of the topic of climate change, can you identify any additional information that could benefit your justification (argument)? Explain.Explanation / Answer
Answer- Earth climate is changing getting very rapidly and it is getting warmer year by year. If we observe that 30-year climatological data from Australian Bureau of Meteorology (In graph 1) it has been keenly observed that there is a drastic increase in the surface temperature of the earth especially after 1980. During the period of 1850-1940 earth suffers cooling period there is a decrease in the surface temperature. Not only in the temperature as well as there is also a decrease in the precipitation. During the period of 1940-1960 Sydney receive heavy precipitation more 2000 mm per year (graph 3). But after 1980 there is a drastic decrease in the precipitation (800-1300mm). what could be the reason for this sudden change in the climate of Sydney?. After Industrialization period and nowadays exponential growth in the no of the automobile in the road as well as from industrial smoke from various factories large amount of harmful gases and Co2, So2, Ozone is emitting in the atmosphere. these gases especially CO2 has a high heat-trapping capacity. From graph 2, representing solar irradiance from 1975 to 2012, it has been observed that there is alternating increase and decreases solar irradiance. after 2000 there is steadily decreasing solar irradiance from 1366.6 W/m2 to up to its lowest level 1365.1 W/m2 then again steadily increase. From the graph 4, it has been observed that CO2 concentration in the atmosphere steadily increasing. In 1880, CO2 concentration with the atmosphere was 280ppm nowadays around 390ppm (2010). Within 30 years from 1980-2010 CO2 concentration within the atmosphere took exponential growth. All these are the result of anthropogenic forcing like increased CO2 concentration, anthropogenic air pollution from automobiles and industries these are the major cause of global climate change is not only in Sydney city even all over of the world suffering from this global issues. SO we have to prevent this global issue and prepare for the future. It can only be done by
- Reducing fuel emission from automobile apply new policy, make some new standards and limit the emission of fuel from automobile
- Aforestation
- Reuse, Recycle, Reduce
- sustainable development is required
