First, sphere A is brought into contact with sphere B and then separated from it. After that, sphere A is brought into contact with sphere C and then separated from it. Finally, sphere A is brought into contact with sphere B again, and then separated from it What is final charge of sphere A? Explanation / Answer

initially the charge of sphere A is Q

when it is contact with sphere B , then let half of the charge is trnasfered so both having same charge of Q/2

now Sphere A isn brought in contact with sphere C , then the charge transfered to C is half of the charge (Q/2)/2 = Q/4

now the charge of the sphere A is Q/4

again the sphere A is brought into contact with sphere B again , so the charge transfered from A to B so that the average charge remained in sphere A is ((Q/4)+(Q/2))/2 = 3Q/8

So the final charge remain on sphere A is 3Q/8

the answer is 3Q/8
