Question

Can someone please explain how if you have one guy, Jim, pushing on a box that is 3 kg with a constant speed of 9 m/s by applying a focre of 15 N. And you have another guy, Dan, who is also pushing on an identical box at a constant speed of 4 m/s by a force of 15 N.. ...... I dont understand how the forces applied are the same yet the speeds are different. How come its the same exact force yet the speeds are different? Im so confused, maybe help explain the difference in constant speed or accleration.

Explanation / Answer

In both the cases net froce is zero,

from newton's first law body will continue with constant velocity if net force acting on body is zero,

by the time net force became zero in first case velocity is9m/s and in second case it is 4m/s so they may continue with different speeds
