Question
A rectangular loop of wire with 70 turns is inside a region of uniform magnetic field (B = 0.650 T). The total resistance in the loop is 0.440 Ohm. a. If the loop starts entirely inside the region of magnetic field, what is the flux? b) How much power will be generated if the loop is pulled so that the rightmost 0.50 m of the loop ore outside the magnetic field in a time of 3 seconds? c) How much force would be required to do this? d) Explain why it requires work to move the coil out of the magnetic field. Where does the opposing force came from?Explanation / Answer
a) magnetic flux = magnetic field * area
= 0.65 * 0.75 * 0.35
= 0.170
b) potential difference v = -BhV (V=velocity)
V = 0.5/3 = 0.16m/sec
now V = 0.65 * 0.35 * 0.16 = 0.0364
now power = V^2/R
P = 0.0364 *0.0364 /0.44 = 0.003 watts
c) now current i = V/R
= 0.0364/0.44 = 0.082 amp
now force = nBil
F = 70 * 0.65 *0.082 * 0.75 = 2.79
d) here some work is done to move the coil out from the magnetic field because of the magnetic flux associated with it. this come from magnetic field.
