Question

For the DC circuit show below, find the voltage and current across each resistor. The voltage source is 40V. Find the power dissipations in R1 and R3. Click on the circuit to view a larger image R_A = 19 Ohm, R_B = 300 Ohm, R_C = 300 Ohm, and R_D = 100 Ohm Current through R_A = A Voltage drop across R_A = V Power dissipation in R_A = W Current through R_B = A Voltage drop across R_B = V Current through R_C = A Voltage drop across R_C = V Power dissipation in R_C = W Current through R_D = A Voltage drop across R_D = V

Explanation / Answer

i am making the following calculations on the basis of assumptions that Rais connected to battery, RB and RC are in series and RD is in parallel to RB and RC

Resistance of circuit = 19 + ( 600x 100) /700= 104.71 ohms apprx

I through circuit = 40/ 104.71= 0.382 A

a) Ia = 0.382 A

Va = 19 (0.382) = 7.258 V

P= VI = 2.77 watts

b) Ib = 32.742/ 600= 0.05457 A

Vb = 300 (0.05457)=16.371 V

c)Ic = 0.05457 A

Vc = 16.371 V

Pc = 0.8933 watts

d)Id = 0.382- 0.05457= 0.327 A apprx

Vd = 32. 743 V apprx
