Question

For the DC cicuit show below, find the voltage and current across each resistor. The voltage source is 40V. Find the power dissipations in R1 and R3.

Ra= 12 ohms, Rb = 100 ohms, Rc= 200 ohms, Rd = 70 ohms.

Current through Rb                     = A
Voltage drop across RbRB                     = V

Current through RcRC                     = A
Voltage drop across Rc RC = V
Power dissipation in RcRC                     = W

Current through Rd =A
Voltage drop across Rd = V

For the DC cicuit show below, find the voltage and current across each resistor. The voltage source is 40V. Find the power dissipations in R1 and R3. Ra= 12 ohms, Rb = 100 ohms, Rc= 200 ohms, Rd = 70 ohms.

Explanation / Answer

net resistanc = 12 + 70*300/370

= 68.75 ohm

net current = 40/68.75 = 0.58 A

Current through Rb = 0.58*70/370 = 0.11 A

Voltage drop across Rb = 0.11*100 = 11 V

Current through Rc = Current through Rb = 0.11 A

Voltage drop across Rc = 0.11*200 = 22 V

Power dissipation in Rc = 22*0.11 = 2.42 W

Current through Rd = 0.58*300/370 = 0.47 A

Voltage drop across Rd = 0.47*70 = 32.9 V
