Question
Can you please show formula you've used as well? Tried this one using k(q/r^2) to no avail.
A solid metal ball of radius 1.5 cm bear ing a charge of -15 nC is located near a solid plastic ball of radius 2 cm bearing a uniformly distributed charge of 10 nC on its outer sur face. The distance between the centers of the balls is 11 cm. Given that the value of k is -15 nC 10 nC Plastic After electrostatic equilibrium is estab- lished, what is the magnitude of the electric field at the center of the metal ball due only to the charges on the surface of the metal ball?Explanation / Answer
here,
net electric field at the center of the metal ball is zero
and
net field at the center of the metal ball is equal to the sum of the field due to plastic ball and metal ball
therefore,
electric fied due to plastic ball is, E=k*q/r^2
=9*10^9*10*10^-9/(11*10^-2)^2
=7438.02 N/C
hence,
electric fied due to metal ball also, E=7438.02 N/C
