Question

Use the following information in questions 7 and 8 In the circuit shown, R.-1 , R2 = 2 , and the emf of the cell is 6 volts. R2 emf How does the current flowing through resistor 1 compare with the current flowing through resistor 2? A. The current through resistor l is less. B. The current through resistor l is the same. C. The current through resistor 1 is greater. D. None of the above can be concluded. 7. How does the voltage drop across resistor 1 compare with the voltage drop across resistor 2? A. The voltage across resistor 1 is less. B. The voltage across resistor l is the same. C. The voltage across resistor 1 is greater. D. None of the above can be concluded. 8.

Explanation / Answer

The given figure shows that two resistor are joined a supply in parallel series.

Hence current is divided in both resistors but voltage drop is same .

7.

V1 = V2 = Vemf = 6 V

Current in Resistor 1 (R1 = 1 ohm)

I1 = 6/1

= 6 A

Current in Resistor 2 ( R2 = 2 ohm )

I2 = 6/2

= 3 A

Hence , option (C) is correct for 7.

And option (B) is correct for 8.
