Question

Please help me solving this problem ..

an engineer is designing an antenna that send andreceive electromagnetic waves has a length of (Lambda)/2 and frequency 600MHZ , Find: A) Lambda? B)The appropriate change indimensions so we can use this antenna to send and receive with the same frequency but under the water??

this is urgent .. any help willbe appreciated :)

Explanation / Answer

Frequency f = 600 MHz = 600 * 10 ^ 6 Hz

Wavelength = speed of EM wave / f

                    = ( 3 * 10 ^ 8 ) / ( 6* 10 ^ 8 )

                    = 0.5 m

(A). lamda = 0.5 m

(B). Speed of light in water v = c / n

           v =( 3 * 10 ^ 8 ) / ( 4/ 3)

             = 2.25 * 10 ^ 8 m / s

Wavelength in water = v / f

                               = 0.375 m
