Question

If there is two solenoids, one inside the other, each carry current I= 2.00 Amps, but in the oposite direction. If the inner solenoid has aradius a1= 2.00cm and n=10turns/m and outer has radius a2= 4.00cm and n=10 turns/m. If I want to find the magnitude and direction between the solenoids, do I subtract the outside magnetic field with the small one, I used B= µ0nI to calculate the magnetic field. and the direction of the magnetic field between the two solenoids is the same as the outer solenoid since the magnetic field is larger?

Explanation / Answer

as you can see. I1=-I2 so that B1=-B2. the two solenoid, one inside the other, so in the smaller solenoid, magnetic field is zero. and in the space between the two solenoid, magnetic field is B1.
