Question
I'm working on Drosophila melanogaster and for time reasons I couldn't make a cross for my work. The thing is that I tried to cross a supposed female sepia-eyed type with a male wild type. And I say "supposed" because I didn't know if it was really sepia-eyed or sepia-eyed; ebony type. What I really mean is that in the label said that it was sepia, not sepia-ebony. I could swear that the body of my supposed sepia-eyed flies was darker than the wild type, but not as dark as the ebony type. Can I be sure that it was sepia-ebony and the bottle was incorrectly labeled?
Also, the F1 were all red-eyed, light-colour body (the wild type one). I didn't have time for the F2, but if it's sepia-ebony, the proportions would be the same as the ones stated in the third law of Mendel?
Thank you very much.
Explanation / Answer
no it cant be sepia-ebony as the bottle says it is not sepia-ebony..
