Creeks and rivers often dry for long periods of time, can rapidly become a dangerous torrent in the event of floods. People are advised not to attempt cross in such situations. The goal of this project is to develop a portable and safe bridge which can be moved rapidly to a danger site and allow evacuation of stranded persons. Issues include securing the bridge, materials for construction (light weight but strong) and ease of deployment. As my major is structure I would like to get a my views on structural design, bank stability and deployment issues within 2 pages. The requirements are as follows:

Since the bridge has to be mobile, the weight of the bridge should be kept as minimum as possible without affecting its strength and durability.
As the bridge has to be made for evacuation purposes,material rather than concrete can be easily thought of.
Bank stability cab be done by providing stone pitching on banks along with the metallic wire mesh holding all together or the 3 legged concrete stones having good interlocking properties can also be utilised.
Bridge should include many hinges in order to counteract the wave thrust generated.
Thus the structure should be an indeterminate one.
Floating bridge concept can be well utilised along with the experience of its deployment on emergency situations.
Good seasoned wood can be used to make such bridge.Ultimate load method is the best way to design it.
