Question

Hey everyone,

I am having trouble understanding this question. If someone couldplease explain this to me, I'd greatly appreciate it. Thanks.

A 12- resistor is connected in parallel with a 6-resistor. This pair is also connected in series with an 8-resistor. A battery is connected to these resistors. Whatwill happen if the 6- resistor becomes an infinite resistance(i.e. breaks)?

a. The current provided by the battery will not change.
b. The power dissipated in the circuit will increase.
c. The current in the 12- resistor will increase.
d. The current in the 8- resistor will become zero.

Explanation / Answer

The current in the 12- resistor will increase Since in parallel combination resistance is greater thanthe individual reistances . If 6 ohm resistance is breaks then reistance is decresed andcurrent is increased
