Question

Hi Albert,
Here is my new questions: (1) Calculate thePE of a judoka "A" which is on the back of the judoka"B." The judoka "A" will thrown from the distance of 1.5m. The judoka "A" has a mass of 80 kg.
I did like this PE = mgh = (80kg)(9.8 m/s2)(1.5m)= 1176 Joule - This equation represents the Judoka"A" base level of KE when he is not thrown. Howeverif he will be thrown then the KE = mgh =
(80)((9,8m/s)2- (1.5m) = 782.5 J so this resultis correct or not? Asyousee I substracted the distance because the gravitation.???
(2) To calculate the KE =1/2mv2 = 1/2 (80)(0.62) = 14.4 J the 0.6 represents the velocity. The question here isthis. The judoka B uses his energu by throwing the judoka A,however it is easier because the gravity helps him. So how toformulate my equations? I hope I was clear enough. Soboth questions are tricky, but the (2)nd question is even more.
Please answer me,
Emeric

Explanation / Answer

Here the potential energy of the judoka A from the baselevel is U =mgh m =80 kg g = 9.8m/s2 h= 1.5m This can be calculated when the shoulder is taken as referencelevel. Then U = 80 * 9.8 * 1.5m = 1176 J Or we can say the change in the potential energy of judoka Ais U =mgh       U =  80 * 9.8 *1.5m = 1176 J h= 1.5m This can be calculated when the shoulder is taken as referencelevel. Then U = 80 * 9.8 * 1.5m = 1176 J Or we can say the change in the potential energy of judoka Ais U =mgh       U =  80 * 9.8 *1.5m = 1176 J
