Question

I need help with the problem 3.32c (chapter 3 question 32 part c) and 4.2c,e.,f. from the book Fundamentals of Structural Analysis FOURTH edition. The Authors are Leet, Uang, and Gilbert. I do not have a picture or a diagram for this problem because I cannot find it online.. If needed I could always repost this question with a picture via phone.

for 3.32c I have the structure as R=4 c=1
R=3+C
4=3+1=4
hence the structure is stable when it comes to reactions = possible equations

now is it also geometrically stable or unstable... the answer on cramster is all messed up and someone said it was unstable but the forces do not form a parallel or concurrent force system right???

for 4.2c i have r=4 b=8 and n=6... comes out to statisfy r+b=2n and it does not have a concurrent or parallel force system.. but I just do not think it is stable for some reason...

4.2e,f

They are the same structure but reactions in different areas... makes me wonder if one is not stable and the other is although

r=4, n=5, b=6

so.. r+b=2n

if possible for both problems just state stable/non stable for each part (if you have time) I would like to be able to check my answers with yours.. if any are nonstable please state why

Explanation / Answer

3.32c: Stable and determinate problem.

4.2c:

4R+8Fbar = 12 unknown

2ESE x 6 JTS = 12 ESE

Stable and determinate.

4.2e:

4R+13 Fbar = 17 Unknowns

2ESE x 9 joints = 18 ESE

Unstable.

4.2f:

4R+6Fbar = 10 unknowns

2 ESE x 5 JTS = 10 ESE

STable and determinate.
