Question
I need to find the shear flow at the joint (n--n), as well as the maximum shear stress. I have tried two ways decribed in my textbook, but I'm not quite understanding them. Finding the centroid is easy. Do I calculate the moment of inertia for the whole cross section first, then find Q = (Ay)? where A = the area of the top piece and y is the distance from the centroid to the center of the top peice.
I've also seen it split in half using the centroid of the cross-section. Could use some help with the solution here. Thanks
