Question
Physics lab. Please explain the differences and agreements of these two graphs (they are labeled as prediction and the loggerPro graph on the left side)
Position vs Time A Velocity vs Time Acceleration vs Time Logger Pro V-t graph. Phase 1 Phase 2 Phase 3 Phase 1 Phase 2 Phase 3 Phase 1 Phase 2 Phase 3 14. In your investigation of an object moving at constant velocity, you learned that the slope of the x-t graph was the average velocity of the object. In this case, however, the slope for any interval on the graph is not constant; instead, it is constantly changing. Compare LoggerPro v-t graph to the one you sketched. Discuss differences and agreements.Explanation / Answer
Comparing all the graphs in phase 1: In phase 1 we can see that the logger pro x-t graph has a slope (indicates the velocity) that is less than the sketched predicted graph which indicates that the v-t graph must also be almost constant and on the lower side. It can be seen that the predicted graph for v-t is not very much in accordance with the x-t graph, i.e. the slope is fairly positive in phase 1 x-t sketched graph which means that the v-t graph should also have a good intercept, which is missing. The logger pro a-t graph as well as the sketeched a-t graph are fairly coinciding for phase 1.
Comparing all the graphs in phase 2: In phase 2 we can see that the logger pro x-t graph has a sudden increase in slope and the position reaches the peak value, but the sketched predicted graph indicates a steady slope which almost becomes 0 and then starts to decrease. From the x-t graphs of logger pro it is explainable that since the sloe is suddenly increasing, hence, velocity should also increase suddenly which is evident. The sketched v-t graph must be flat or slightly increasing and also, a-t graph in logger pro has a sharper increase whereas, the sketched graph has a steady slope whic is in agreement with the steady increase in sketched velocity in the v-t graph.
Comparing all the graphs in phase 3: In phase 3 we can see that the logger pro x-t graph has a sharpe negatove slope which means that the velocity should be negative which is not the case. Similarly for the sketched graph, for the x-t slope to be negative it is important that the velocity is negative which is not the case.
Although, the v-t and a-t graph of logger pro as well as the sketched graph show a downward slope, but, the acceleration is still positive which means the velocity should keep increasing but at a slower rate but that does not shouw in the v-t graph. Note that unless the acceleration is negative, the velocity cannot decrease. Hence, the phse 3 measurements are conceptually erroneous.
