Explanation / Answer

Check that values of Resistances taken by me are correct, as your figure was not clear. Let me know in the comments if there is any difference in any value.

A.

R2, R3 and R4 are in parallel, So their equivalent will be

1/Rp = 1/R2 + 1/R3 + 1/R4

1/Rp = (R3*R4 + R2*R4 + R2*R3)/(R2*R3*R4)

Rp = (R2*R3*R4)/(R3*R4 + R2*R4 + R2*R3)

B.

Now R1, Rp and R5 are in series, So

Req = R1 + Rp + R5

Req = R1 + [(R2*R3*R4)/(R3*R4 + R2*R4 + R2*R3)] + R5

Req = R1 + R5 + [(R2*R3*R4)/(R3*R4 + R2*R4 + R2*R3)]

C.

Using given values

Req = 17 + 39 + [(75*89*45)/(75*89 + 89*45 + 75*45)]

Req = R = 77.37 Ohm

D.

Since R1 is in series with battery, So current in R1 will be equal to total current in circuit.

i1 = ieq

Now from ohm's law

E = ieq*R

ieq = E/R

Using this

i1 = Current through R1 = E/R

E.

Numerical value will be

i1 = 5.5 V/(77.37 Ohm)

i1 = 0.0711 Amp

F.

Power is given by:

Power = Current^2*Resistance

current through R1 = I

Resistance = R1

So,

Power = I2*R1

G.

Numerical values will be

P = 0.0711^2*17

P = 0.0859 W
