Question
Answer the following questions about the surface area S on a surface given by a positive function z=f(x,y) over a region R in the xy-plane. EXPLAIN EACH ANSWER.a.) Is it possible for S to equal the area of R?
b.) Can S be greater than the area of R?
c.) Can S be less than the area of R?
I think A is possible because S can equal the tangent plane, which equals R. But the rest I'm not that sure about. Really, any advice or help would help me a lot. I'm using Larson-Edwards Calculus, 9th edition. It's chapter 14.5. Question 38. It's not pulling up for me on here. Thanks!
Explanation / Answer
a) yes ofcourse it is possible b) yes S can be greater or less than the area of R as R is a region on x-y plane under the function z which obviously set on plane
