Question

I need help, I had 2 people no possible answer... just looking for conformation.

1) Three particles travel through a region of space where the magnetic field is out of the page, as shown in Figure. The electric charge of each of the three particles is, respectively, A) 1 is neutral, 2 is negative, and 3 is positive. B) 1 is neutral, 2 is positive, and 3 is negative. C) 1 is positive, 2 is neutral, and 3 is negative. D) 1 is positive, 2 is negative, and 3 is neutral. E) 1 is positive, 2 is neutral, and 3 is postive

Explanation / Answer

Ans Use Fleming's right hand rule, in which thumb, forefinger and middle finger are mutually perpendicular,

thumb will show force on particle pointig outwards,

forefinger will show direction of magnetic field pointing outwards, and

middle finger will show direction of flow of positive charge pointing outwards and also direction of flow of negative charge is opposite to that of positive charge as in a current carrying wire flow of electrons is opposite to the direction of flow of protons.

Option (C) is correct
