Question

Answer the following questions about the spinal nerve structures For each pair of spinal nerves, locate the specific bony area of the spinal column where the nerves actually leave the spinal cord. For example, where does the pair of C8 nerves leave the spinal cord? Where does the L5 nerve pair leave the spinal cord? Through which bony aperture in the vertebrae do spinal nerves leave the protection of the spinal column? For each pair of spinal nerves, locate the specific bony area of the spinal column where the nerves leave the protection of the spinal column itself . Which of the 2 nerve roots contains sensory information only? .Which of the 2 nerve roots contains motor information only? Consider the posterior root ganglion. What is a ganglion? Why is it bigger in diameter than the rest of the posterior root? What special cells are in ganglia? What is the difference between the spinal roots and the spinal rami? .Do spinal rami carry sensory, motor, or both types of information? . What areas of the body do the posterior rami (dorsal rami) innervate? . What areas of the body do the anterior rami (ventral rami) innervate? · Consider the peripheral nerves (Objective #6) that innervate the arms and legs. Do they originate from the posterior rami or the anterior rami? What are the rami communicantes? How do they differ from the anterior and posterior rami? .

And Answer

In a human body there are three type of signals, they were generated according to the kind of activity and response

Sensory signal: As word explain its kind i.e. signal generate from temperature, touch, and pressure.

Motor signal : Signal generate for voluntary action. You have full control on your response.

Reflex : Signal generate for non-voluntary action. You have no contro on your response.

Spinal nerves are the mixed nerves. They help in generating sensory, motor and reflex signal. They were passing signal from body to brain and and brain to body. There are 31 pair of spinal nerves, each pair pass from both the side of corresponding vertebral column.

Vertebral column divided into 7 cervical, 12 thoracic,5 lumber and further 5 fused sacral and coccyx vertebrae. Spinal nerves also have name according to the name of vertebrae. So nerve C1-C7 passes from vertebrae 1-7

But C8 nerve is pass below vertebrae 7 and above T1(thoracic 1). L5 nerve is pass from lumber 5 vertebrae and next is S1(sacral vertebrae).
