Question

In the deep ocean, a water wave with wavelength 95m travels at 12 m/s. Suppose a small boat is at the crest of this wave, 2.0m. above the equilibrium position. What will be the vertical position of the boat 8.0s later? I am getting 1.98772m, but I want to make sure I'm doing this problem correctly. It was hit/miss with all of my homework problems on questions like this. for frequency i found .126s T=7.917s and i used 2pi/a= 7.917 a=.794 then I used cos(at) and at the crest the boat is at 2.0 m so 2.0cos(.794*8.0s) = 1.98772m am i right?
