Question

I have the first part answered, but I can't find how to figure out the current across the dead battery. I need help with part b only. Please don't copy and paste from yahoo answers or some other place because I've googled this and none of those answers are correct, nor do they guide me to how to find the answer.

A dead battery is charged by connecting it to the live battery of another car with jumper cables. Assume that V = 7 V and R = 0.60 ?.

Determine the current in the starter.
A CORRECT

Determine the current in the dead battery.

??? Amps

Explanation / Answer

Vstarter = istarter R = 170.2 * 0.06 = 10.212 V

therefore,

V + i R = 10.212

7 + i * 0.60 = 10.212

>>>> i = 5.35 A
