What is meant by latent viral infection?
It means that virus is lying in a latent (dormant) stage integrated with genome of host cell which is also called as episomal form . It can be reactivated after variable periods of time and virus may replicate. This should not be confused with latent. clinical infection wherein virus is continuously replicating within the cell.
However E option can also be a right answer if it is a multiple choice question. But this is a very rare event .
