Question

Please click on link for diagram reference http://www.chegg.com/homework-help/questions-and-answers/fig-7-45-cord-runs-massless-frictionless-pulleys-canister-mass-m-21-kg-hangs-pulley-exert--q1243316 Just look at the diagram only. I just need to check my work on here. Two questions 1.) During this lift, what is the work done on the canister by your force (via the cord) 2.) What is the net work done? For number one I did mg2d. Reason being is that the cord is running through two pulleys thus making the total distance twice as long. Is this correct? For the net work done, I did W_net = mg2d - mgd, since the work of gravity is negative. Please give me feedback if there's anything I'm doing wrong or not accounting for.

Explanation / Answer

simple is calculate the workdone by gravity it is negative of workdone by Force workdone by gravity = -mgd only and the actuaL displacement of block is only d
