Question

In a certain speaker the crosswover circuit uses an inductor of 13.8 mH and a capacitor of 16.6 X 10^-6F.  The speakers each have 4.0 ohms resistance.

a.) What is the crossoever frequencey of this corssowver circuit? In other words, at what frequency does the impedance of the capacitive circuit equal the impedance of the inductive circuit?

b.)  (Hint for parts b-e: i I want the power to the speaker only. and you can use Pavg = I^2max R)  At 1100 Hz, what is the average power delivered to the tweeter if the source voltage is 10.0v RMS?

c.) At 100 Hz what is the average power delivered to the tweeter if the source voltage is 10.0v RMS?

d.) At 1100 Hz what is the average power deliverded to teh woofer if the source voltage is 10.0v RMS?

e.) At 100 Hz, what is the average power deliverd to the woofer if the source voltage is 10.0v RMS?

Explanation / Answer

a)

w = 1/sqrt(L*C)

= 2090 rad/s

f = 332.5 Hz

Pavg = I^2max*R

b)

at f=1100 Hz

wL - 1/wC = 86.66 ohm

reactance = 86.75 ohm

Imax = 115 mA

Pavg = 53 mW

c)

at f=100 Hz

wL - 1/wC = -87.20 ohm

reactance = 87.30 ohm

Imax = 115 mA

Pavg = 52 mW

for d and e they are same as b and c
