Question

If water droplets  fall 25.0  meters  into a lake at the bottom of the  falls and come to rest. What  is  the  increase  in  temperature  of  the  droplets? (Assume  no  loss  of  energy  to surrounding)  I know that the answer is 0.059 C I just don't understand how to solve it.

Explanation / Answer

energy = change in potential energy = m * g*h = m*9.8*25 = 245*m J

so.. m * c * change in temp = 245*m

so.. m * 4184 * change in temp = 245 m

so.. change in temp = 0.059 C
