CMOS gate: The objective b) When the two inputs, v and v are both low, select one of the folloving statements: of this question is to investigate the operation of the four MOSFETs for all combinations of the inputs, vi and v and to deduce the type of the gate. 1Q1 and 02 are off, while Q3 and Q4 are on 2 01 and 2 areon, while Q3 and Q4 are off 3) 01 and Q3 are off, while Q2 and Q4 are on 4 Q1 and Q3 are on, while 02 and Q4 are off 5 01 and 4 are off, while Q2 and Q3 are on 61 Q1 and 04 areon, while 02 and Q3 are off c) When input v, is low while input vz is high, select one of the following statements: 1 The dralin-source voltages (magnitudes) of Q1 and O2 are low, while the drain-source voltages (magnitudes) of 03 and 04 are high 2 The drain-source voltages (magnitudes) of 01 and Q2 are high, while the drain-source voltages [magnitudes) of Q3 and Q4 are low 3 The drain-source voltages (magnitudes) of Q1 and 03 are low, while the drain-source voltages (magnitudes) of Q2 and 4 are high 4 The drain-source voltages (magnitudes) of Q1 and O3 are high, while the drain-source voltages [magnitudes) of Q2 and 04 are low 5) The drain-source voltages (magnitudes) of Q1 and Q4 are low, while the drain-source voltages (magnitudes of 2 and O3 are high 6) The drain-source voltages (magnitudes) of Q1 and Q4 are high, while the drain-source valtages (magnitudes) of 02 and 03 are low out O2 d) When the two inputs, v, and v are both high, select one of the following statements: 1 and Q are off, while a, and Q, are on 2 and are on, while a and are off 3) and Q, are off, while a and Q are on 4 and are on, while Q, and a, are off 5 and are off, while and a are on 6) 0 and Q, are on, while Q, and Q, are off a) When input v, is high while input v is low, select one of the following statements: 1)The drain-source voltages (magnitudes) of O1 and 02 are low, while the drain-source voltages (magnitudes) of Q3 and Q4 are high 2) The drain-source voltages (magnitudes) of Q1 and Q2 are high, while the drain-source voltages (magnitudes] of 03 and Q4 are low 3) The drain-source voltages (magnitudes) of Q1 and Q3 are low, while the drain-source voltages (magnitudes) of Q2 and Q4 are high 4) The drain-source voltages (magnitudes) of Q1 and Q3 are high, while the drain-source voltages (magnitudes of Q2 and 4 are low 5) The drain-source voltages (magnitudes) of Q1 and Q4 are low, whilethe drain source voltages (magnitudes) of Q2 and Q3 are high 6) The drain-source voltages (magnitudes) of Q1 and Q4 are high, while the drain-source voltages (magnitudes] of 2 and 03 are low Deduce the type of this digital gate 1 AND gate 2 NAND gate 3) OR gate 4] NOR gate 5) XOR gate

Explanation / Answer

a) when input V1 is high then transistor Q4 will be OFF and transistor Q1 will be ON therefore VDS1 will be highhbut VDS4 will be low. Similarly when V2 is low then transistor Q3 will be ON but transistor Q2 will be OFF hence VDS3 will be high and VDS2 will be low. Hence option 4 will be correct.

b) Here, if both inputs are low then transistor Q3 and Q4 will be ON as it is a pMOS transistor and transistor Q1 and Q2 will be OFF, hence option 1 is correct.

C) When input V1 is low transistor Q4 is ON and transistor Q1 Will be OFF therefore VDS4 will be high and VDS1 will be low. As V2 is high transistor Q3 will be OFF but Q2 will be ON hence VDS3 will be low and VDS2 will be high. Hence option 3 is correct.

D)when both inputs are high then transistor Q3 and Q4 will be OFF and Q1and Q2 will start conducting hence output will be low. Hence option 2 is correct.

It is a NOR gate when we apply input to the transistor,

output will be high when pull network is conducting, if any one transistor of the pull network is off then output will be low.
