Please this is a geotechnical engineering problem please hell me solve it. Thank you

Homework No. 2 1. Water flows from Point A to Point B in a soil profile, a distance of 250 feet. The elevation of Points A and B are 543 and 461 feet, respectively. Piezometers have been installed at both points, and their water levels are 23 and 74 feet (distance from point to water level in piezometer), respectively. Using this information, compute the average hydraulic gradient between the points. 2 Desktop 8

Explanation / Answer

Average hydraulic gradient ; i = h/L

h = difference in head between 2 piezometers

L = distance between 2 piezometers

Elevation of piezometer at point A = 543+23

= 566 feet

Elevation of piezometer at point B = 461+74

= 535 feet

So the difference in piezometers ; h = 566-535

= 31 feet

Length between 2 piezometers ; L = 250 feet

Average hydraulic gradient ; i = 31/250

= 0.124
