Evaluate the economic classification system. Here are some thoughts to guide the discussion: Is an economic classification of the world's countries useful? Why is it important to discuss economic factors in an environmental science class? Why would the terms be controversial (First World, More developed, etc). What indicators do you think are important when devising a classification? Would you add environmental factors? Social factors?

Yes ,economic classification of world's countries is usefull. It is important to discuss economic factors in environmental science class.Enviromentalists are advocating that we find an alternative method of development for instance by giving monetary value to natural things and resources rather than human made things.
The capacity of the environment to absorb pollution is limited and it varies greatly depending on climatic as well as socio - economic factors. Therefore the ability of the world economy to sustain economic carrying capacity of the environment.
The net effect of development on environmental degradation of the Earth and its system is a result of the following interrelated factors.
Relation ship between economic growth and the environment could be catagorized into the following ( interrelated effects )
a) Scale effects : The scale effect depicts an inverse relationship between economic output and environmental quality.
b)Composition effect : Composition effect reflects the pattern of long - run structural change in the economy.It implies relaqtionship between economic growth and the environmental degradation follows an inverted U pattern if other effects are kept constant.
c) Technological effect : Technological effect leads to efficient use of resources.
d)Abatement effect : the amount of abatement effort directly result from the people's preferences towards environmental quality.
They are always controversial as First world is less developed and the present world is more developed. The present world will always becomes the past world and the more development is always be forward.
While dividing a particular classification the indicators like social factors ,economic factors, environmental according to socio and economic, should be taken into account.
We will add both environmental and social factors to the Economic clasification as both are indicating factors for the economic classification
