Please explai why thank you!

2. Which of the following compounds is necessary for the complete oxidation of fats?

A. Glyceraldehyde phosphate

B. Malate

C. Oxaloacetate

D. Pyruvate

E. None of the above

8. The “additional” enzyme necessary to allow for the complete oxidation of

monounsaturated fatty acids is

A. 2,4-dienoyl-CoA reductase

B. Methylmalonyl-CoA mutase

C. Enoyl-CoA hydratase

D. Enoyl-CoA isomerase

11.The enzyme, 2,4-dienoyl-CoA reductase, is used in which one of the following processes?

A. oxidation of saturated fatty acids

B. synthesis of saturate fatty acids

C. oxidation of polyunsaturated

fatty acids

D. synthesis of polyunsaturated fatty acids

Explanation / Answer

2.C. Oxaloacetate

During beta oxidation, the long chain of fatty acid is cut into 2carbon compounds, acetate. It combines with Co-enzyme-A and forms acetyl CoA. Acetyl CoA combines with oxaloacetate to form citratre.

8.Enoyl-CoA isomerase

It is used for the complete oxidation of monosaturated fatty acid. Two molecules of ATP is utilized to break double bond.

9.c. oxidation of polyunsaturated fatty acids

It is the rate limiting step of oxidation of unsaturated fatty acid.  It participates in the metabolism of unsaturated fatty enoyl-CoA esters having double bonds in both even- and odd-numbered positions.
