Migration Phenology is basically timing of key events that have an impact on the ecological relationship. The annual cycle of migratory birds which involves migration, breeding and nesting must be synchronized between the birds and the availability of the key resources.
On considering the phenology of the birds, the migration and their arrival timing to the destination must be well synchronized. If they arrive too early, they might face the brunt of the unfavourable weather condition and if they arrive too, they might face the brunt of lack of resources. The birds and environment with which they interact that includes food sources and favourable environment for survival. According to the studies it is found that species higher in the food chain have advanced their phenology less as compared to species lower in the food chain.
If there is a phonological mismatch it can be slightly detrimental to the migratory birds and ultimately cause a decline in the level of population. However, it is also noticed that the phonological shits might at times help in extending the breeding season. The change in the timing of the arrival of the migratory might impact their life due to a disturbance in the available resources.
