The items which are classified as operating assets are used in day to day operating activities of the business,anything which impacts or controls the normal operating activities like inventories,cash,receivables. Those assets which does not assist in regular operating activities are classified as non operating assets like investments. The liabilities which are a result of normal operations of business are operating liabilities like accounts payable,accrued interest&taxes arising out of operations while those those not associated with normal day to day operating activities are non operating liabilities as Derivatives and other investments.
