Please help! My answers other than the ones in green are incorrect
A line is parameterized by x = 7 + 5t and y = 6 + 4t. Which of the following points arc on the section of the line obtained by restricting t to nonncgative numbers (for each, enter Y if the point is on the section, and N if not)? Then, give one more point that is on the section of the line obtained by this restriction: What arc the endpoints of the line segment obtained by restricting t to -2 le t le 0? left endpoint: right endpoint: How should t be restricted to give the part of the line to the left of the y-axis (give your answer as an interval for t, for example, (3,8) or [-2, Inf))? t must be in :Explanation / Answer
ANSWER A : equation obtained by eliminating t is given as
5y-4x=2
but it is given that t>=0
and
t=(x-7)/5
t=(y-6)/4
so (x-7)/5 >=0 and (y-6)/4 >= 0
hence x>=7 and y>=6.
so one more point that is on the section of line obtained by restriction is (7,6).
ANSWER B : now t is restricted as :
-2< t < 0
so -2 <=( x-7)/5 < =0 and -2 <=(y-6)/4 <= 0.
-3 < = x < =7 and -2 <= y <= 6.
left end point will be (-3,-2)
right end point will be (7,6)
ANSWER C : so to give the part of the line to the left of the y-axis
x<0
x-7 < -7
(x-7)/5 < -7/5
and x-7/5 = t
hence t < -7/5
so t should be restriced to (-Inf , -7/5).
