Question

Possibly math ratio question!

1 ) The largest nuclear test in history, Tsar Bomba in 1961, released 2x10^17 Joules of energy. About how many Tsar Bombas would be required to equal the energy of the spaceship in the last problem? Enter a number, rounding to the nearest integer (or if less than one, to one significant figure)

The energy of the spaceship in the last problem was 5E19 Joules...

2) The world's annual energy consumption is about 10^21 Joules. Assume there are 365 days per year, how many days of world energy production would equal your answer to 1b (again 5E19 Joules). Enter a number, rounding to the nearest integer (or if less than one, to one significant figure)

I am blanking on the math!!

Explanation / Answer

tsar bomba released energy = 2*10^17 joules

bombs required to equal energy = 5 *10^19 joules = 5*10^19 / 2*10^17 = 250 tsar bombas

2) annual energy consumption = 10^21 joules

therefore we can say that energy consumption in 365 days = 10^21 joules

then for 5*10^19 joules would require = 5*10^19*365 / 10^21 = 18.25 days = 18 days approximately
