Question

I'm not sure how to go about this hw problem:
A safety supervisor feels that 30% of all industrial accidentsin his plant are caused by failure of employees to followinstructions. If this failure is correct, find approximatelythe probability that among 84 industrials accidents in his plantanywhere from 20 to 30 (inclusive) will be due to failure ofemployees to follow instructions.
This seems like it should be easy, but my teacher hasn'texplained any of this and has left a bunch of us in the dark. Thanks!

Explanation / Answer

Given X~Binomial(n=84, p=0.3) By using Normal distribution approximation, X~Normal(=n*p=84*0.3=25.2,=n*p*(1-p)=84*0.3*0.7 =4.2 ) So the probability is P(20
