Study level of anxiety after watching a sports show

The three types of shows I will compare are surfing shows, skate boarding shows, and snowboarding shows.

What mood will you measure and how will you measure it? I'm studying the level of anxiety they feel after watching it. I would measure the moods using a 3 point interval scale –not excited=1, somewhat excited=2, very excited=3.

• How do you think each group will score on the mood measure you use?
I'm predicting the lowest mean (least anxiety) will be from the surfing show, the next will be from the skateboarding show, and the highest mean will be from the snowboarding show.

Then, respond briefly to each of the following questions about your findings:

• What are your independent and dependent variables?

• What is your null hypothesis?

• What is your alternate hypothesis?

• Will your study use a between-subjects ANOVA or a within-subjects ANOVA? Explain.

• Assume your results are significant. What do you think the post-hoc comparisons will show?

1) The dependent variables are the level of anxiety. They are a) Not excited-1, somewhat excited-2,very excited-3. 2) The independent variables are surfing shows,skate boarding shows, and snow boarding shows. 3) The null hypothesis is that the mean levels of anxiety are all equal. 4) The alternative hypothesis is that the mean levels of anxiety are not all equal. 5)Within subjects anova is useful, because the same subjects experience the different levels of that effect. 6) If the results are significant, then we say that the mean levels of anxiety are not all equal.
