Please visit the UN Atlas of Our Changing Environment website to read about an irrigation project in Al Isawiyah, Al Jowf, Saudi Arabia (30°02'47.8"N 38°19'59.9"E) and click on any of the place name links to view the irrigation system in Google Map. You can also click on the Al Isawiyah.kml file you download to explore the area in Google Earth (if installed in the computer) from a regional context or from the physical geography perspective.

Answer:
As the Al Jowf, Saudi Arabia is located in an arid area, and Al lsawiyah are rich in oil but have small amount of water, keeping this in mind the government has decided to benefit the farmers of that region by taking help of center-pivot irrigation system (CPI) which are extensively used where the water table is low or where the groundwater are not in the adequate amount, it helps to reduce the wastage of water and are very helpful to irrigate the arid and semi arid region like Al Isawiyah. Therefore, this project helped the environment to promote oxygen level in the air and also the farmers to get their fields more productive than before.
The changes can be seen in the image as greenery are spreading in an adequate manner in arid area.
