Lab answer:

Below was the lab assignment:

Using your knowledge of PLC counters, design a program to meet the following requirements: When the Start switch (1:1/0) is pressed, pump P1 will be energized and the tank will start to fill. The pulses generated by Flowmeter 1 should be used to increment a counter. When the count reaches a value where the tank is approximately 90% full, the pump is to be shut-off and and the control panels FULL light is to be energized. The filling operation is to halt immediately if the stop switch is pressed. While testing, utilize the "Reset Simulation" and the "Reset Timers and Counters" entries in the Simulations menu to re-start your program.

Explanation / Answer

In the line 000 there are 4 contacts shown

start normally open

pump normally open

tank full normally close

stop normally close

When start push button is pressed, pump will turn on and the pump normally open contact will become close.

When stop push button is pressed, pump 's close contact will be opened. When pump is full command is sent from the counter the normally close contact will be opened and pump will be stopped.

In the line 001 a flow meter contact and a counter is shown.

whenever there is a pulse from flow meter, counter's count up pin will be activated and counter will add 1 to the previous count. When count reaches to required value, normally close contact will become open in line 000 and tank is full indication in line 002 will become ON.

in the line 002 a normally open contact which is related with count output CU of counter and a light is shown.

When the counter reaches a value when tank is 90% full this contact will become close and full light will be on to show that tank is full.

In 003 line a TOD command is shown and it is used to change BCD values to integer values.

In line 004 end command is shown whish will be activated when end of program occurs
