Because of this family history, the doctor is concerned and puts her on a vitamin Kinhibitor temporarily while she is recovering from her broken leg. Vitamin K is essential for the proper functioning of many clotting factors. Because during leg fracture their may be chances of bleeding below skin in veins (because veins are superficial to arteries) this results in superficial thrombophlebitis. This doesn't leads to serious problem.

When at the time of fracture injury to blood vessels resulting in formation of blood clot inside leg. It is known as' deep vein thrombosis ". These clots become loose and break due to high blood pressure inside vessels. After dislodgement this clot become emboli. It enters in heart than in lungs and may cause pulmonary thrombosis.
