Discussion 2.1: Harvesting Web Data
Every time you do an internet search information is past from you to the server. In between the information exchange, advertisers pay for data so they can display content related to the searches you are performing. In other words, there are programs that harvest information about the types of websites that you visit-from where you shop to where you look for information. Advertisers use that harvested information to promote their products and services. You've probably noticed pop up ads that contain products of services similar to those for which you were shopping. How do you feel about this?
Explanation / Answer
Its kind of a breach of privacy . As there are times when we want our search to be discreet .Adverts are good but not at the cost of ones privacy. And the harvesting of data for future reference is another thing to worry about , as this keeps a tab on what we looked for and our personal details like password , bank statements etc. and it this data falls in the wrong hands then we'l end up in a lot of trouble.
