Question

Margaret pruchased a new bar of soap. Three days after she orginally used the soap, she was curious how much soap per day she was using. She decided to weigh her sopa and found that the bar was 103 grams. Four days later she re-measured the same bar of soap and recorded a weight of 80 grams. Assuming thaet Margaret used the same amount of soap daily (and that she used the soap daily), write an equaiton that shows the amount of soap, S, remaining after d, days of use. (I would love it if you showed your work along the way on how you got the equation. Thank you!)

Explanation / Answer

The original weight of the soap on day 1 = 103 gm

Four days later the weight of the soap = 80 gm

per day used weight of soap = (103 - 80)/4 = 5.75 gm

then sequence of weight = 103,97.25,91.5,85.75,80................

w = 103-(n-1)5.75

and n = 1 first day

n =2 second day thats on
