Question
I'm pretty confused how to answer this question.
A student is interested in finding out whether tobacco scene in movies can have influence on teens' tendency to start smoking. She starts her study by looking at 33 Disney movies, recording the total time of tobacco scene in each movie to see if the average length of tobacco scene is significant, and then compares the length of tobacco scenes to the length of the whole movie.
Determine whether or not the statistical study was prepared properly. (Recall that in the preparation of a statistical study, the context, source of the data, and sampling method should be considered.)
Describe 2 changes that could make this study better.
Explanation / Answer
Here we used different time interval of movie and tobacco scene .
Let's we discussed ..
Suppose you study 100 movies which length of tobaco scene singnificant .
Then you can used mean and standard deviation of this 100 movies .
For comparison of 33 movies..
Here first change is you can increase your sample size because if you increase sample size then you get perfect answer .
Second change is we can not compaire with length of tobaco scene and whole movie . We compaired sample movies tobaco length and population movies tobaco length .
