Question
Please explain how you got your answer so I can learn how to do this problem thanks
Suppose you have 35 observations, the smallest and largest of which are 118.6 and 269.4, respectively. Apply the accompanying procedure to choose classes for cutpoint grouping. Use eight dasses. Choose the class width by rounding the calculated approximate class width up to the nearest multiple of 5. Choose the lower cutpoint of the first class by rounding the minimum observation down to the nearest multiple of 5. Click the icon to view the procedure for choosing classes Classes for cutpoint grouping -under under Use ascending order.)Explanation / Answer
min = 118.6
max = 269.5
required number of classes are 8
classwidth = (269.5 - 118.6)/8 = 18.8625
Rounding the class width to the nearest multiple of 5 i.e. 30
And selecting the minimum value by rounding towards the multiple of 5.
Hence the lowest value for the first class is 115 to find the second cutpoint for the first class, add 20 and sustract 1 from 115.
For second group lowest cutpoint is calculated by adding 20 to the 115.
Below are the classes
115 -under 134
135 -under 154
155 -under 174
175 -under 194
195 -under 214
215 -under 234
235 -under 254
255 -under 274
