Question

Pick a country of your choice that is experiencing population growth. Use that growth rate to approximate the population in the year2015. Show your detailed, worked out solution. Do not use China, India, or the United States.
SAMPLE: The population of India in 2005 was 1,080,264,388 (there is more recent data available, so use the most recent you can find). The growth rate is 1.4%. Note that in this instance, the percent must be converted to its decimal equivalent before it can be used to make computations with the formula. Please I need help with this formula.

Explanation / Answer

First of all, you need to find a country that has a growth rate easily found on the internet. The formula goes like this. S=initial population r=rate of growth (in decimal notation. 10%=.1, 53%=.53, 2.8%=.028, etc) t=time (in years) F=final amount e= a constant that should be pre-set into your calculator F= S*e^(r*t) So for the example given, the initial population was 1,080,264,388. The growth rate was about 1.4% (That's just .014 in decimal notation). Since the data was supposedly collected in 2005, and the projected date is 2015, that's 10 years. So: F=1,080,264,388*e^(.014*10) I suggest using your calculator on this part, as the numbers can get quite cumbersome. So just find a country, project a date (2015 still works). Next, find the annual population growth. Find out what the initial population is/was and what year it was when that population was accurate (meaning, if the census was taken in 2009 that is OK but just be sure to go from 2009 to your projected end date, and not from 2011).
