Question
I need to know what type of statistical test to use to find a correlation between the students scores from the survey and the GPA's related to the scores. It would be great if someone could find the correlation results using some statistical analysis showing whether the correlation is significant and if their is a negative/ positive correlation Suver Validation Project ur vc S dore sheet out of 21 Students this is the information Collected Scores from surve Astua l 3. 4 3.47 2.9 3.05 3.09 3.2 3.3 3. 3 3.72 12 1 2. ) 3 3. 24 3.3 3.38 3.o 14 1 3.48 (3.1,3.1,3.,3.2,3,61,2,67) 3.81Explanation / Answer
correation between x and y=corr(x,y)=r=covariance between (x,y)/sqrt(var(x)*var(y))
or r=0.1195/sqrt(4.6118*0.0693)=0.2114
answer of 8) correlation between scores from survey and actual GPA =0.2114
answer of 9) correlation between scores from survey and actual GPA is positive as its positive sign indicates
so increase in one variable will effect in increase another variable and vice-versa
we can statisticaly test the correlation coefficient weather it is significant or not using t-statistic and
t=r*sqrt(n-2)/sqrt(1-r2)=0.2114*sqrt(27-2)/sqrt(1-0.2114*0.2114)=1.08 (with 25 df)
t-critical (0.05,25)=2.0595
since t-critical 2.0595 is more than t-calcualted 1.08, so we can say that correlation between scores from survey and actual GPA are not statisticaly significant at 5% level of confidence.
