Explanation / Answer

1. SPONGES:

a. .1. Level of organization - Cellular level of organization. Multicellular with specialization but not tissues.

2. Type of symetry - Asymmetrical

3. Cells that create the water current - Choanocytes.

4. Cells that engulf and digest food - Collar cells.

b. Path of water:

In >>> ostia >> prosopyles >> radial canals >> apopyles >> spongocoel >> osculum >> Out.

c Water is drawn in through canals called ostia. It then passes through the prosopyles which are like flood gates or valves that allow only the inflow of water and prevent the outflow form the same opening. This water contains the nutrients for the sponge that include plankton and bacteria suspended in the water along with dissolved solids and oxygen. As water passes through the canasl that are lined by the choanocytes, food is drawn to the collar cells where it is digested by amoebocytes by phagocytosis.Amoebocytes distribute food to all other parts of the body.
