Question
Please write neatly do not write in cursive. If you can type this out.
Check if all these answers are right and for part d) Indicate the slope and state what it means to the problem.
4. Thomas is transferring files from his computer into his flash drive. The size of the files on the drive D (megabytes) as a function of time t (sec) is modeled with the following function: d(t) = 6t + 38. After 12 seconds, how many megabytes will be loaded into his flash drive?
Determine:
Given from example one:
Soulution:
Where: d(t): is the size of the files on the flash drive ( megabytes).
t= Time
At t=12, d(12) = 6(12)+38 = 72+38 = 110 Megabytes.
So after 12 seconds, there will be 110 Megabytes, that will be loaded onto the flash drive.
a. the shape of the graph: the shape of the Graph is a slanted line.
b. the independent and dependent variables
The independent variable = Time/seconds
The Dependent variable is the size of the flash drive, in Megabytes.
c. the domain and range: The function will be defined for all.
Domain: {t: t> 0} The function can have value > 38.
The Range: is {d: d > 38
d. Interpret the slope and y-intercept values: comparing d(t)= g(t) + 38 by y=mx+c. Slope (m)=G.
for part d) Indicate the slope and state what it means to the problem:
d(f): 6t + 38, for finding the intercept but (t=0). d(t)=38. So the y-intercept is = (0, 38)
check if all the answers are right, review part c the domain and range and give me an answer.
5. Dollar General store advertises that all items are $1. The constant function that models this situation is: c(x) = 1, where c(x) is the cost of any item. What is the cost of a toothbrush in the Dollar General store?
Determine:
a. the shape of the graph:
C(x)=d, The cost of the Toothbrush will be a dollar.
The shape of the graph is a horizontal line.
b. the independent and dependent variables:
The independent variable is labeled as Items.
The dependent variable is the cost, c (in dollars)
Is the range is wrong and i need help figuring out what the right answer is.
c. the domain and range: The domain can be any Item available in the store. The range is {$1).
Explanation / Answer
Yes all answers are perfectly OK.
Good work!!!!!!
Regarding part d) the slope represent the change in dependent variable for a unit change in independent variable.
Hence in this context slope represent the change in size for a unit change in time.
I hope this will help you.
