Question
Instructions: Please submit a self-contained and well-formatted Word (or similar) document in SacCT containing all of your written answers, calculations, and graphs to the four questions below. Also, submit Excel and GRhTL documents containing the background calculations. For this question, show the results "by hand" and also use GRETL to check your work. Suppose that researchers want to test the effectiveness of a new anti-anxiety medication. In clinical testing, 20 out of 100 people taking the medication report symptoms of anxiety. Of the people receiving a placebo, 60 out of 200 individuals report symptoms of anxiety. Is the medication working any differently than the placebo? Test this claim using the 5-percent level of significance. Show your work and explain.Explanation / Answer
here probabilty of anxiety by mediaction p1=20/100=0.2
and probabilty of anxiety by placebo p2=60/200=0.3
hence std error =(p1(1-p1)/n1+p2(1-p2)/n2)1/2 =0.0515
therefore test stat z=(p1-p2)/std error =-1.9426
as p value for above z stat =0.052 whcih is greater then 0.05 level of test, we can not reject that anxiety effect by both treatment are same.
