Null hypothesis H0 = Democrats and Republicans are going to support the abortion rights equally

Alternate hypothesis HA = Democrats are more likely going to support the abortion rights compared to Republicans.

Looking at the output of Chi Square test p value <0.05 in fact p value < 0.001

Hence, we will need to reject the H0 and presume the Democrats are more likely to support the rights.

(b)

X2 or the critical value or chi square value is 21.321.

As per the degree of freedom which is 4 and significance level assumed at 5%

Using the table, Critical value is 9.49

X2 from the test is 21.321

Hence, we conclude that there is a statistically significant relationship between the two variables.

(c)

To determine the degree of dependability can be determined using Cramer’s V value since this is bigger than 2X2 table:

Value is 0.144, from the table we see that the relationship is weak. (Note: These value interpretation may differ from book to book, look up in the table Degree of association, in your book)
